Improve Your Local Work by Lifting Up Others Around You
Look outward instead of focusing all your attention inward.
No matter your situation in your local work, many other people are involved in the work of the church.
Somebody prepared the Lord’s Supper.
Somebody taught the children’s Bible classes.
Somebody opened up the building and made sure either the heat or air was running.
And the list could go on and on.
I think we as preachers sometimes get so caught up in our Bible classes and sermons that we overlook all the work others are doing. I don’t think this is intentional on our part - we just get so busy we miss what others are doing.
As we begin a new year, take time to notice all the work that your brethren are doing. We aren’t doing all the work all by ourselves.
When you notice what others are doing, be sure to lift them up for the work they are doing. Maybe it’s just an encouraging word to them to keep up their work and know that you have noticed their efforts. Maybe you publically praise them before the congregation for their efforts for the Lord.
However you do it - look around at what others are doing and lift them up this year.
The congregation will benefit from your encouragement - which will also be a blessing to your local work.
