The kids and I just returned from “Mini Camp,” - which is a Friday afternoon through Sunday morning Bible camp for younger kids and their families.
This is with Limestone Bible Camp and takes place at Camp Ney-A-Ti.
Next week, our family will spend the week at Maywood Christian Camp.
These weeks are beneficial to our family because we get to spend additional time studying God’s Word and also because of the encouragement we receive from spending time with other Christians.
However - and you preachers probably know where I’m coming from with this - these weeks can be challenging for preachers to make sure they are prepared for upcoming Bible classes and sermons.
So here’s how I’m preparing around camp this year, and then I’d appreciate hearing how you plan around weeks like this.
My Plan Around Camp.
For the weekend of Camp Ney-A-Ti, I was allowed to be at camp and gone from preaching that Sunday morning and that Sunday evening was our singing night - so I wasn’t scheduled to preach anyway.
I worked all week leading up to camp, and I’ll be able to work all week this week.
How I’m handling my preaching schedule, and Maywood is a little different.
I’m preaching the Sunday Maywood starts, but I’m taking off the Sunday after we return. Maywood goes from Sunday through Saturday. I didn’t want to spend all week at camp, return home exhausted, and preach the following day.
Some years I’ve preached sermons about what we studied at camp, but I decided to handle it a little differently this year.
What’s Your Approach to Camp?
I’d like to hear how you handle your preaching and regular Bible classes around “camp time.”
Do you take time off?
Do you work on your sermons and classes during camp?
Do you structure your classes and sermons around what was studied during camp?
Let me know what you do!
