The Local Work - Coming Soon for Gospel Preachers
The local work of the gospel preacher is one of the most enriching and potentially discouraging things a Christian can do.
I’ve been serving as a local preacher for over four years - which I know is not very long. During this time, I’ve grown to appreciate the efforts of my fellow gospel preachers. I understand the struggles and difficulties gospel preachers face.
I hope this newsletter becomes a beacon of encouragement to those of us who are enduring discouragement. As I learn things that help me in my local work, I plan to share those things with you.
I always plan to point us back to God’s Word - it can be easy for our own lives to get off track, for us to teach things that aren’t consistent with God’s Word, or for us to lose hope when we go through difficulties. Keeping our focus on God and His Word will help to keep us walking in the way we ought to go.
You - the preacher - are worth helping and encouraging.
What you can expect from The Local Work
An email every Monday with something to help you in your local work. Maybe it will be a piece of technology to help you save time. Maybe it will be thoughts from something I’ve been reading about preaching. It may involve the more practical, day-to-day side of local work.
A community for discussion and feedback. I will post a question on Thursdays to encourage discussion/feedback/encouragement.
Future resources that help with the practical side of local work. I have some projects in the works that include advice from older, more experienced gospel preachers. I think these resources will benefit us as preachers tremendously.
I’m grateful for all my brothers in Christ who serve in the fields of local work. Whether the “brotherhood” knows who you are or not, you are doing good work in the Lord’s kingdom.
I’m not starting this newsletter because I’ve got local work all figured out - far from it. In the world of online writing, there is a saying about “practicing in public.” It means taking what you are learning, experiencing, and dealing with and putting that into words to help others and yourself.
If you believe The Local Work will be helpful to you, I would be glad to have you subscribe.
